Gloucester Level 2 Meet

October 17th / 18th 2015

Report

On Saturday 17th / Sunday 18th October a total of 11 swimmers competed at the Gloucester City Level 2 Open Meet @ GL1. This is an extremely popular event which has been enhanced to a level 2 meet and as such attracted an extremely high level of swimmers from as far afield as Yeovil, Coventry and Brompton (West London).

Of the 11 swimmers competing in 51 individual events the overall performance was incredibly high with an excellent percentage of Personal Bests recorded (75%). In addition 40 County Qualifying times (78% of swims) were gained and 11 medals.

Some of the highlights of the weekend were

•1 silver medal and 3 bronze medals  won by Tom Birley (10) including three County Qualifying Times.

•1 gold medal (200 backstroke) and 1 silver medal won by Seb Roffey (13).

•1 silver medal also won by Eve Watson (13).

•2 bronze medals each for Matthew Thomas (14) and Molly Schofield (11).

This was an incredibly high standard event and for 71% of our teams’ swims to be ranked in the top 8 for their age group is a wonderful achievement.

"This was a great early season meet for our swimmers who performed well above their own high expectations throughout the weekend. It bodes well for the season ahead. " Duncan Loraine (head coach)

Well done to everyone who competed, volunteered and supported over the weekend.
