LAMSC CLUB CAPTAINS 2025

'Hi,  I'm Fin.  I'm 15 and one of the Club Captains for 2025, along with Emily.  I have always swam from a young age, since swimming lessons then joining the Club when I was 8 years old.

I have competed in lots of different galas from Club galas, league events like Arena League to Counties, Regionals and last year I was lucky enough to get to English Nationals in the 50 and 200 metre breaststroke - all of these are great experiences.
I also help out on poolside with the Academy swimmers on a Thursday night at the College.  I started doing this for my Duke of Edinburgh award with school but have carried on doing it as I'm enjoying as it's rewarding being able to help out and see improvements the swimmers are making.  It's also helped me improve my confidence.

I was really proud to be selected as Club Captain as it's not just about helping out with the training but it's about someone who all swimmers in the Club can come and talk to or ask a question and to be a friendly face around the pool who will support and encourage everyone.    I've been where everyone in the Club has been - I've been DQ'd before, worried I haven't swam as well as I could or that someone else is faster than me - don't worry - that's all normal but that's why it's important to have people to support you so I'm happy to be part of that support.'

'Hi, I’m Emily, and I’ve been swimming with the Ledbury & Malvern club since I was seven — which basically means I’ve spent more time in water than on land.

Over the years, I’ve worked my way through club galas, Arena Leagues, countless open meets, counties, regionals, and even attended a national development camp. This experience means I’ve seen all sides of being an athlete — facing the ups and downs, the highest of highs, and the days where I’d rather not get up at 5:30 to jump in a freezing cold pool… yet I still do.

I’ve been Senior Club Captain for two years now, and my role is to support all of our club members as much as I can — at training and competitions — whether that’s through technical tips, general advice, or just being someone who’s there for them. I also volunteer weekly, helping to coach our younger squads. Coaching and supporting them is something I really enjoy — it’s great to see their progress over time and to help them gain confidence, both in and out of the pool.

Swimming has played a big part in my life, and being able to share the love I have for the sport is something I take pride in (along with being the loudest at competitions!). The club has always been a welcoming, supportive community to grow within and has given me some of my closest friendships and favourite memories. Whether you're looking to compete or just want to improve and be part of a great team, there’s a spot for you here.'
