On Saturday 18^th and Sunday 19^th July a total of 29 swimmers competed at the Gloucester City Open Meet. This is an extremely popular event on a traditionally good weekend and there was a lot of excellent racing across the weekend.

Of the 29 swimmers competing in 129 individual events the overall performance was high with a majority of PBs recorded. In addition 32 County Qualifying times were gained and 23 medals.

Some of the highlights of the weekend where

·        3 gold medals (100 free, 50 back & 200 back) and a bronze medal for Matthew Thomas on 1 day of competing before going on to represent Worcestershire at the Three Counties gala the following day.

·        3 gold medals (100 free, 50 back & 200 back), 1 silver medal and 2 bronze medals for Eve Watson in the very competitive 12 year old girls events, gaining medals in all events entered.

·        Gold medals also for Ellie Ainsworth (50 free) (plus 1 bronze medal) and Bradley Williams(400 IM).

·        Molly Schofield had an excellent weekend competing in 10 events she registered 100% pbs, 8 County Qualifying Times plus a silver and bronze medal.

·        Additional Silver medals for Lydia Freeman and Talesha Hunt.

·        Additional Bronze Medals for Bryn Batten, Francesca Henry-White, William Kennedy and Lily Wood.

It was also great to see some of the younger swimmers competing in their first open meet and it was great to see the whole team supporting each other all weekend.
