Ledbury Swimmers impress at County Championships
Ledbury swimmers returned to Wolverhampton for a second weekend of tough competition in the Worcester County Championships and achieved impressive results. Intent on building on their success from the previous weekend Club Captains, Ellie Ainsworth and Elliot Heath added to their medal tallies with a gold, two silver and two bronze medals for Heath and a silver in the 100m freestyle for Ainsworth. Also adding to his collection from the first part of the championships, Matt Thomas brought home 3 bronze medals all achieved with new best times.

It was a great day for 11 year old Emily Russell who swam an amazing 14 second improved personal best time on the eight length backstroke race to be rewarded with a much coveted bronze medal.

In a move to restrict the length of each gala there are no finals for the age group events but it is still acknowledged as a huge achievement to reach the top 8. In addition to the medal winners, Ledbury swimmers reaching this standard were, Molly Schofield, Eve Watson, Tom Birley, Malachi Cashmore, William Kennedy and Eric Harris.

Head Coach Duncan Loraine reported that he was pleased with the amount of personal best times achieved over the entire Championships - resulting in a 70% success rate. Singled out for exceptional improvement during the 2nd weekend of racing were, Sebastian Roffey (100m, 400m freestyle),  Talesha Hunt (100m freestyle) and Daisy Wood (200m individual medley). Swimmers also putting in strong performances included Robyn Munday, Lily Painter, Lydia Freeman, Lily Wood, Bradley Williams, Eleanor James and Caitlin Wild.
