Worcester County Development Gala

On Sunday 20th September a total of 18 swimmers competed at the Worcester County Development Gala. This is an extremely popular event which has been designed by Worcester County to encourage younger and less experienced swimmer into the world of racing.

Of the 18 swimmers competing in 82 individual events the overall performance was high with an extremely high percentage of Personal Bests recorded (78%!). In addition 2 County Qualifying times were gained and 25 medals.

 
Some of the highlights of the weekend were 

•3 gold medals (50 free, 50 back & 50 butterfly) won by Martha Day including a County Qualifying Time for her 50 back. 

•2 gold medals won by both Ben Collins (100 free and 50 butterfly) and Emily Russell (100 Individual Medley and 50 butterfly) Emily also won a silver (100 butterfly) and 2 bronze medals (100 breastroke and 100 freestyle) whilst Ben also won a bronze medal (100 Individual Medley).

•Gold medal also for Emma Tillott (50 free) plus 1 silver medal (50 back).

•Alice Russell had an excellent weekend competing in 5 events she registered 100% pbs and 4 bronze medals.

•Additional Silver medal for Alice Lloyd.

•Additional Bronze Medals for Anzhelika Vasileva, Francesca Henry-White, Harriet Cox (plus a county Qualifying Time), James Young, Theo Bichard and William Kennedy(2).

 
It was great to see some of the younger swimmers competing at the venue for the County Championships and it was great to see the whole team supporting each other all day.

Well done to everyone who competed, volunteered and supported over the weekend.
