Ledbury and District Amateur Swimming Club
Wyvern League 2016
Round 2 – Pontypool Active Leisure Centre

Round 2 – Development
Ledbury and District swimming club went to Pontypool with high hopes to continue the round 1 success but a much less experienced team of determined swimmers. There were several new faces in the team and many experienced competitors. The challenge was great as City of Newport Swimming club would be sure to put out a very strong team.
The team performed well but the found the competition tough and so fought to fourth place with the total points as follows;

Newport   273
Abertillery 202
Torfaen   198
Ledbury   176
Chepstow   139
Blaenafon   103

The Wyvern League is a team event made up of 54 separate events both individual and relay. The age ranges form 9 year olds to 15 year olds. Newport were completely dominant securing 34 first place swims. Ledbury gained 6 first places out of the 54 events which was more than Torfaen or Abertillery but it was the 12 third places gained that pushed Ledbury down the table.

Ledbury was less successful in the relay events were the shortage of older girls and the introduction of several new swimmers resulted in several DQs for handovers and some lower places. However, this was encouraging as it has provided several new swimmers with the necessary experience for the future.

Individual winners included Elliot Heath, Arthur Zenihov, Eva Bailey, Anthony Davies, Arthur Davies and Eve Watson.

A special mention to first time competitors Felicity Cox, Eva Bailey, Finn Cunningham, Spike Burnage and Alice Lloyd.
